Escola de famílies
The Family School of the Alba Association is a training and support space aimed at families connected to our services, but also open to professionals and the wider community. Through talks and workshops, we address topics of interest related to the care and support of people with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and aging, offering practical tools to better support their development and well-being.
This space aims to be a support network where families can share experiences, resolve doubts, and receive useful information to face the daily challenges involved in caring for and supporting a person with specific needs.
These training sessions are funded by DINCAT (Federation of People with Disabilities of Catalonia).

What topics do we address?
The Family School sessions are designed to offer knowledge and practical resources, addressing topics of interest such as:
- Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) → Tools to improve quality of life and autonomy.
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) → Communication strategies, behavior management, and family support.
- Aging and dependency → Support during the aging process and necessary adaptations.
- Emotional management and caregiving role → How to face emotional challenges and find balance in caregiving.
Sessions are dynamic and participatory, and may include expert talks, discussion spaces, and practical workshops.
Who can participate and how?
The Family School is open to:
- Families of people using Alba’s services who are looking for tools to improve their caregiving role.
- Professionals in the sector interested in deepening their knowledge of supporting people with IDD, ASD, and aging.
- Anyone interested in these topics, as the talks are also shared at a community level.
Sessions are held throughout the year and are announced through the communication channels of Associació Alba.
