Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition that affects how a person perceives the world, processes information, and interacts with others. Each person with ASD is unique, with different support needs, which is why it is essential to adapt spaces and learning methods to promote their autonomy and well-being.

The TEACCH method is a structured teaching model designed to help people with ASD better understand their environment and develop functional skills. It is based on visual organization, activity anticipation, and spatial adaptation, allowing each person to learn and work more efficiently and independently.

How do we work with the TEACCH model?

At Associació Alba, we have created specific spaces adapted to the TEACCH method, where every element is designed to reduce distractions and facilitate understanding of tasks.

Structured organization → The spaces are arranged in a clear and predictable way, with separate areas for each activity.

Anticipation and routines → The use of pictograms and other visual supports allows individuals to anticipate daily activities, reducing anxiety and increasing their sense of security.

Individualized work → The TEACCH spaces are adapted so that each person can focus on a specific task, encouraging learning through personalized activities based on their needs.

Augmentative and alternative communication → In addition to pictograms, other visual resources and manipulative materials are used to enhance communication and comprehension, making interaction with the environment easier.

Who is this space for?

Our TEACCH spaces are mainly designed for people with autism, but they are also very useful for other individuals with intellectual disabilities who need a clear structure and a visual communication system to improve their learning and autonomy.

People with ASD → We work with children, young people, and adults with autism, adapting activities according to their level of support.
People with intellectual disabilities → The use of pictograms and structured methodology are tools that facilitate learning and daily living.
Students at Escola Alba → The space is also used as a pedagogical resource to improve communication and comprehension in the classroom.

Associació Alba is committed to specialization and the adaptation of spaces to better meet the needs of people with ASD and other disabilities, promoting a more accessible and understandable environment for everyone.
